2009 Shoebox Appeal
The support has been amazing and countrywide. Schools, Church groups, Offices and Individuals. Well done and thank you……..
The shoebox gift is a simple concept, yet provides untold encouragement and hope for the many vulnerable and disadvantaged senior citizens living in isolation, facing hardship at home and abroad.
This year Containers and Lorries have been dispatched to Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe, Eastern Europe and United Kingdom.
(email from Bulgaria)
"I have just returned from an old people’s home where we visited this morning.
We had a tremendous reception is no exaggeration believe me. I spoke a little about yourselves and the people in England.
They were so touched and ladies came up to us afterwards in tears, as they said "these are tears of joy" they were so touched.
We went through the boxes placing a little letter in each and a tube of toothpaste. I was so touched personally at the effort and love that had gone into each.
I don't know if it is possible to pass on our thanks to those who gave, it as was although each little shoe box had the effect of a container!!!! Very, very powerful"
Well done and thank you.
